If the volume of an ideal gas is doubled while its temperature is quadrupled, the pressure will

  1. decrease by a factor of 2
  2. increase by a factor of 2 ✓
  3. decrease by a factor of 4
  4. increase by a factor of 4
Explanation

For an ideal gas, PV = nRT, so P is proportional to T/V.

Volume doubles (÷ 2) and temperature quadruples (× 4). So the pressure changes by 4/2 = 2. It will increase by a factor of 2.
