As of August 2026, per ABU’s official screening portal (portal.abu.edu.ng/forms) and multiple school-news reports, only UTME candidates who scored 180 and above are eligible to register for the 2026/2027 screening exercise, which opened on 6 July 2026. Direct Entry candidates register too, using the same portal.
How ABU scores your screening
ABU combines your JAMB score and post-UTME score into one aggregate, per exam-prep sources that track the university’s admission process year on year: Aggregate = (JAMB score ÷ 8) + (Post-UTME score ÷ 2), out of 100.
Worked example: a candidate with 240 in JAMB and 80 in the post-UTME screening gets (240 ÷ 8) + (80 ÷ 2) = 30 + 40 = 70 aggregate. Departments then rank candidates by this figure — most courses ask for 50 and above, while competitive courses such as Medicine ask for higher.
The screening itself is CBT, and questions are drawn from English, Mathematics, General Paper and whichever subject combination you registered under JAMB. Exam-prep blogs put the sitting at around an hour, though ABU’s own portal does not publish an exact question count or timing — treat that figure as a guide, not a guarantee.
