ÀṢÀ ÀTI ÌṢẸ YORÙBÁ (IBÉERE)Èwo ni won kií fi ṣe àdùrà fún ọmọ ikókó ni ibi ṣọmọlórúkọ?
Explanation
At a Yoruba naming ceremony (ṣọmọlórúkọ), items such as obi (kola nut), orógbó (bitter kola) and ọtí (drink) are used to pray for the baby. Each stands for a blessing, such as long life or sweetness in life.
The he-goat (obúko) is not one of them. It is for sacrifice to some gods, not for the baby’s prayers.
