Kọ́nsọ́nántì tí à ń fi àjà-enu àti àárín ahọ́n pè ni

A consonant made with the hard palate (àjà-enu) and the middle of the tongue is called palatal. The sound [j] (as in the Yoruba letter y) is palatal.

[g] is velar: it is made with the back of the tongue against the soft palate, so it does not fit.
