Reverberation is a phenomenon that occurs in enclosed spaces due to:

  1. Absorption of sound waves by the walls.
  2. Multiple reflections of sound waves within the space. ✓
  3. The Doppler effect caused by the listener’s movement.
  4. Cancellation of sound waves due to interference.
Explanation

Reverberation is the persistence of sound in a room after the source stops. The sound waves bounce again and again between the walls, floor and ceiling. This is multiple reflection.

Absorption does the opposite and reduces reverberation. The Doppler effect needs a moving source or listener and has nothing to do with it.
