Which organization played a crucial role in the fight against apartheid in South Africa and was led by Nelson Mandela?

  1. African Union (AU)
  2. Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)
  3. African National Congress (ANC) ✓
  4. Southern African Development Community (SADC)
Explanation

The African National Congress (ANC) led the struggle against apartheid in South Africa. Nelson Mandela was one of its best-known leaders and later became the country’s first Black president in 1994.

The AU, ECOWAS and SADC are regional bodies for African states. They are not liberation movements led by Mandela.
