The menstrual cycle is controlled by

  1. ovulation
  2. ovum maturation
  3. gonadotropins and ovarian hormones ✓
  4. copulation
Explanation

The menstrual cycle is controlled by hormones. The pituitary gland releases gonadotropins (FSH and LH). These act on the ovary.

The ovary then makes its own hormones, oestrogen and progesterone. These build up and repair the womb lining and keep the cycle in order.

Ovulation and ovum maturation are events inside the cycle, not what controls it. Copulation does not control it either.
