In a reverse biased p-n junction, the depletion region:

  1. Increases in width. ✓
  2. Decreases in width.
  3. Remains the same width.
  4. Depends on the amount of reverse bias voltage applied.
Explanation

Reverse bias connects the p side to the negative terminal and the n side to the positive terminal. This pulls holes and electrons away from the junction.

The depletion region therefore increases in width, and almost no current flows.
