Which type of electromagnetic radiation is primarily used for medical imaging to view bones?

X-rays pass easily through soft tissue but are absorbed more by dense bone. A photographic plate or detector behind the body shows the bones as a clear shadow image.

Gamma rays are used for treating cancer and sterilising. Infrared rays give heat, and microwaves are used for cooking and communication. None of these is used to image bones.
