One bag contains 4 white balls and 2 black balls; another contains 3 white balls and 5 black balls. If one ball is drawn from each bag, find the probability that one is white and one is black.
Explanation
There are two ways to get one white and one black ball.
White from the first bag, black from the second: 4/6 × 5/8 = 20/48.
Black from the first bag, white from the second: 2/6 × 3/8 = 6/48.
Add them, because either case works: 20/48 + 6/48 = 26/48 = 13/24.
