Soil erosion by action of rain can be caused by all of the following except

  1. scanty vegetation
  2. steep slopes
  3. aridity ✓
  4. tropical rainstorms
Explanation

Aridity means very dry conditions with little rain, so it is not a cause of erosion by rain. Scanty vegetation, steep slopes and heavy tropical rainstorms all increase rain erosion.

Plant cover normally holds soil in place, so less cover means more erosion.
