Barchan dunes move

  1. in the same direction as the prevailing winds ✓
  2. against the prevailing winds
  3. at right angle to the prevailing wind
  4. in a circular direction
Explanation

A barchan is a crescent-shaped dune. Wind blows sand up the gentle windward side and drops it over the steep slip face. The dune therefore creeps downwind, in the same direction as the prevailing wind.

Moving at right angles or against the wind would not be possible, because the wind is what carries the sand.
