Example: Quran forbids wine. Cause (illa) is intoxication. By qiyas, all intoxicants are forbidden because they share the cause. New substance causing intoxication is covered by analogy to wine.

Conditions for valid qiyas: original ruling from Quran/Sunnah, identifiable cause, same cause present in new case. Not all scholars accept qiyas; Zahiri school rejects it. Most accept it with conditions.
