If the population of a school is 600 and 60% are In JSS, how many students are in SSS?

  1. 204
  2. 224
  3. 240 ✓
  4. 244
Explanation

If 60% are in JSS, then 40% are in SSS. Calculate 40% of 600 students.

40% of 600 = 0.40 × 600 = 240 students. Or: 600 – (60% of 600) = 600 – 360 = 240.

When you know one percentage, the other is 100% minus that number.
