Which of the following processes takes place in the small intestine of a human being?

  1. Swallowing of food
  2. Secretion of saliva
  3. Absorption of digested food ✓
  4. Secretion of bile
Explanation

The small intestine has a very long, folded lining with villi. Digested food passes through them into the blood. So absorption of digested food takes place there.

Swallowing happens in the mouth and throat. Saliva is made by the salivary glands. Bile is made by the liver, though it flows into the small intestine to help digest fat.
