Explanation

Companions (Sahabah) were Muslims who met the Prophet and died in faith. They witnessed revelation, learned directly from Muhammad, and transmitted Islam to future generations. Their consensus carries authority.

Notable companions: Abu Bakr (first caliph, closest friend), Umar (second caliph, strong administrator), Uthman (third caliph, compiled Quran), Ali (fourth caliph, Prophets cousin and son-in-law), Khadijah (first believer, Prophets wife).

Respect for companions is Islamic obligation – criticism of major companions is forbidden. They sacrificed for Islam and preserved it for us. Their example guides proper Islamic practice.
