Explanation

Tahara means purification in Islam and includes washing for prayer and staying clean. Muslims must be in a state of purity to pray or touch the Quran.

There are two types of purification: wudu, which is washing specific body parts before prayer, and ghusl, which is bathing the whole body. Both remove ritual impurity.

Cleanliness is very important in Islam, and purification is required for many acts of worship.
