Explanation

Tarawih prayer is the special night prayer performed during Ramadan. Muslims pray it after Isha prayer in congregation at the mosque.

Traditionally, tarawih consists of twenty rakats, though some pray eight or more. The imam recites long portions of the Quran during these prayers.
