Cotton is a natural fiber that changes color over time. Old cotton fabric often turns grey or yellow due to age, light exposure, and washing.

Natural fibers like cotton deteriorate and discolor more than synthetic fibers. The yellowing happens as the cotton oxidizes and degrades.

Polyester, viscose, and nylon are synthetic or semi-synthetic fibers that resist yellowing better. Only cotton naturally turns grey or yellow with age.
