Explanation

The sound /d/ is made using the gum ridge (ganda). You touch your tongue to the bumpy area behind your upper teeth. This creates the /d/ sound.

The other sounds use different parts of the mouth. /h/ uses the throat. /m/ uses the lips. /y/ uses the middle of the tongue. Each sound has its own place.

Knowing where sounds are made helps you speak clearly. The gum ridge is important for several Hausa sounds.
