Esie in Kwara State is famous for soap-stone sculptures. The town has hundreds of ancient stone figures carved from soap-stone centuries ago.

Soap-stone is soft rock that is easy to carve. The Esie stone images are the largest collection of stone sculptures in West Africa.

While other Nigerian cultures used different materials, Esie is specifically known for soap-stone carving. The Esie Museum houses these unique stone artworks.
