Explanation

Paragraph unity means all sentences relate to one main idea, usually stated in a topic sentence. Supporting sentences explain, prove, or elaborate on that idea.

Signs of poor unity: random jumps between topics, irrelevant details, missing transitions. Each paragraph should answer “What is the point?” clearly.

Coherence is related but different – its about logical flow and clear connections. Unity is about focus; coherence is about organization.
