Lamentations is five poems mourning the destruction of Jerusalem by Babylon. The book describes the siege, hunger, and suffering in heartbreaking detail.

While Nehemiah and Ezra deal with rebuilding after exile, Lamentations focuses on the grief during the fall. Daniel mentions Jerusalem but does not detail the destruction.

This book shows the terrible cost of rejecting God while also revealing hope in His mercy.
