Hausa greetings vary by time and context. “Sannu” is a general greeting. “Ina kwana?” (How was your night?) is used in morning. “Ina wuni?” (How is your day?) is used later in the day.

Responses include “Lafiya lau” (very well), “Lafiya kalau” (perfectly well), or simply “Lafiya” (well). Greetings are important in Hausa culture – rushing past without greeting is considered rude.

Extended greetings ask about family, work, and health. “Ina gajiya?” (How is tiredness/work?), “Ina aiki?” (How is work?). Proper greeting etiquette shows respect and good upbringing.
