Explanation

God called Abraham (then Abram) to leave his homeland and go to an unknown land (Genesis 12). God promised to make him a great nation, bless him, and through him bless all nations.

Abraham obeyed despite not knowing the destination. His faith is exemplary – trusting God when the path was unclear and the promise seemed impossible (having a son at old age).

This covenant with Abraham is foundational – Jews, Christians, and Muslims all trace spiritual heritage to him.
