Explanation
The Fall (Genesis 3) describes humanitys first sin. The serpent tempted Eve to eat forbidden fruit; she gave some to Adam. This brought sin, death, and separation from God into the world.
Consequences: expulsion from Eden, pain in childbirth, toil for food, eventual death. But God also promised a future deliverer who would crush the serpents head.
Christians see this as explaining why humans need salvation and pointing toward Christ as the solution to sins problem.
