Explanation

The alimentary canal is the long tube that food travels through from mouth to anus. It includes the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine. The liver is not part of this tube even though it helps with digestion.

The liver is an accessory digestive organ that sits outside the alimentary canal. It produces bile to help break down fats in food. The bile travels to the small intestine through a separate duct.

Food passes directly through the esophagus, small intestine, and large intestine. The liver never touches food directly. Other accessory organs include the pancreas and gallbladder, which also help digestion without being part of the main food tube.
