Explanation

Social insects like ants, bees, and termites organize into caste systems with different job roles. Queens lay eggs, workers gather food and care for young, and soldiers defend the colony. Each caste has a specialized body and behavior for its task.

This division of labor makes colonies very efficient and successful. Thousands of insects work together as one super-organism. Individual insects cannot survive alone but the colony thrives through cooperation and specialization.

Hibernation and migration are survival strategies but not specific to social organization. Venom production helps defense but does not require social structure. Only caste systems demonstrate complex social adaptation where individuals sacrifice personal reproduction to help the colony succeed.
