Explanation

Agronomy studies field crop production and soil management. Its main components are: crop science (plant biology, breeding, physiology), soil science (soil properties, fertility, conservation), and crop management (planting, cultivation, harvesting).

Animal husbandry (raising livestock) is NOT part of agronomy – it belongs to animal science. Agronomy focuses specifically on crops, not animals.

Agronomists work on improving crop varieties, optimizing fertilizer use, managing pests, and developing sustainable farming systems.
